Lossless fractal image coding (LFIC) is a new method to code images. The significant property of this method is that it is the first simple fractal image coding method that can regenerate images without data loss (lossless). The method, different from the other fractal image compression, needs no search for the matched domain-range. Therefore, the coding time of this method is also very fast compared with the other fractal image compression methods.
Hot blast flow control valves which can control the flow rate of hot blast at each tuyere and their control system have been developed and applied to Keihin No. 1 BF. These technologies contribute to stable and rational operation compared with conventional ones. This presentation describes the technology of hot blast flow control valves and its implications on the control of heat load at the lower part, the removal of scab, and the control of tapping conditions.
The relationship between the antitumor activity and the inhibition of thymidylate synthase after oral administration of 5-FU, FT-207 or UFT was examined. The inhibition of tumor growth on sarcoma-180 after oral administration of 5-FU (20 mg/kg), FT-207 (120 mg/kg) or UFT (30 mg/kg) was 40%, 50% or 70%, respectively. It was found that the inhibition of thymidylate synthase in sarcoma-180 tumor tissue after single oral administration of 5-FU (20 mg/kg), FT-207 (30 or 120 mg/kg) or UFT (30 mg/kg) were about 45%, 20%, 50% or 65%, respectively, but the activities of other enzymes involved in DNA synthesis were not almost inhibited. Thymidylate synthase was inhibited more severely by oral administration of UFT (30 mg/kg). The activities of other enzymes were not inhibited even by continuous oral administration of these drugs for 6 or 11 days. The extent of inhibition of thymidylate synthase seemed to be parallel to that of inhibition of tumor growth. These results suggest that the inhibition of thymidylate synthase by FdUMP converted from 5-FU, FT-207 or UFT plays a major role in their antitumor actions.

A full-size model of a typical cooling and heating system for a vacuum vessel was manufactured and examined in order to clarify and enhance the efficiency and reliability of the designed system. The model consisted of two parts; one of which had the same structure as the other and was located facing each other to simulate the adiabatic condition of the vacuum-side of a vacuum vessel. Its components were rectangular plates, eletric heater units, cooling pipes inside of which water and air flew as cooling fluid. A lot of kinds of tests and measurements were performed to evaluate efficiency and reliability on the model. The numerical and theoretical analyses on the system were also carried out using the dimensional finite difference technique. The analytical results agreed pretty well with the experimental.

In this study, three dimensional numerical analysis systems, which can consider the change in physico-chemical property and expansive strain due to external sulfate attack, was constructed in order to evaluate the process of expansion cracking behavior.This analysis was coupled with cement hydration model, sulfate attack analysis and Rigid Body Spring Model.In this paper, this analysis was conducted to evaluate the expansive crack propagation in association with cement source and mix proportion.As results, it was confirmed that this analysis can describe signature expansion cracking behavior.
