
Şerif Can Ünver Cellist, Conductor and Academician Dr. Şerif Can Ünver is a Turkish cellist, conductor and academician. He began his musical education at the age of seven at the Istanbul University State Conservatory and continued his cello studies at the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in Izmir and the Music Advanced Research and Studies Center (MIAM) at Istanbul Technical University, where he studied on a full scholarship. He pursued graduate studies in cello at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and the Başkent University State Conservatory. He later completed a second master's degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. In 2024, he completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance at Anadolu University State Conservatory. Dr. Ünver has been a member of Orkestra Akademik Başkent since 2004 and has served as a faculty member at the Başkent University State Conservatory since 2007, where he currently teaches cello. Alongside his career as a performer and educator, he has developed an active career in orchestral conducting and cultural arts management. In 2019, he founded BODER – Başkent Chamber Orchestra Culture, Arts and Education Association. Through BODER, he established the Başkent International Amateur Orchestra (BIAO), a multinational ensemble, and the Başkent Development Orchestra in 2023, a volunteer orchestra focused on musical education, artistic development and community engagement. Dr. Şerif Can Ünver currently serves as the permanent conductor of the Başkent Chamber Orchestra and the Başkent Development Orchestra, while continuing his work as a cellist, educator and cultural arts administrator.
