compartment in T3-treated mice, comparing with control.Regarding splenic B cell subsets, the absolute number of B220 + cells did not change significantly between T 3 -treated and control groups.However, we found a decreased percentage of splenic B220 + cells (control x T3: 63,4 + 2,4% x 52,9 + 3,6%; p , 0,05) in TH-injected mice.T 3 promoted a significant increase in the absolute number of new-formed B cells (B220 + CD21 2 CD23 2 ), no significant change in the marginal zone B cells (B220 + CD21 + CD23 2 ) and a tendency to increase the number of follicular B cells (B220 + CD21 + CD23 + ).Finally, we found a significant increase in the percentage of plasma cells (CD138 + ) and a tendency to increase the absolute number of these cells in the spleen of T 3 -injected mice (control x T 3 : 15,3 + 2,5% x 21,8 + 0,9%; p , 0,05).Our findings support the hypothesis that TH might regulate B cell activation and differentiation to plasma cells in vivo.
