Abstract

A chiral open-framework tin phosphate structure, [CN3H6][Sn4P3O12], has been obtained by using an achiral structure-directing agent, guanidine. The structures of both enantiomorphs have been determined: tetragonal, space groups P43 (No. 78) and P41 (No. 76), a = 8.8881(1) Å, c = 20.6029(4) Å, V = 1627.59 (4) Å3, Z = 4, M = 819.76. The framework, which is composed of puckered 6-membered (Sn3P3O6) and 12-membered (Sn6P6O12) rings, accommodates the organic cation in a tortuous chiral channel.
