Reader response: WMH and long-term outcomes in ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis — In Memory of Vinod Kumar Gupta (2020) | RDL Network
I read with interest the article on white matter hyperintensities (WMH) by Georgakis et al.1 suggesting that WMH are linked to long-term outcomes in ischemic stroke. Pathogenesis of WMH is uncertain, and generalization is difficult.2 WMH are also found bilaterally in migraine patients, with no definitive long-term deterioration in functional or cognitive abilities despite the continuation of age-related accelerated atherosclerosis.2,3
