Rational design of phenanthroimidazole derivatives with hybridized local and charge-transfer characteristics to achieve efficient blue emission in non-doped OLEDs

Two new blue phenanthroimidazole-based emitters were designed and synthesized. The molecules after introducing a benzene ring show interesting HLCT characteristics. A HLCT-OLED shows blue emission and a full width at half-maximum of 67 nm.
