Form und Funktion: Eine einfache Synthese führt über eine Reduktion in wässriger Lösung zu konkaven Pt-Nanowürfeln (siehe Bild) mit hochindizierten Flächen wie {510}, {720} und {830}. Die elektrokatalytische Aktivität der Nanokristalle (bezogen auf die Oberfläche) in der Sauerstoffreduktion ist 3.5-mal höher als die eines Pt/C-Katalysators.
