Parallel Operation of Dual VSCs Regulated by FCS-MPC Using Droop Control Approach

This paper introduces an improvement in the coordination of two different voltage source converters (VSCs) controlled by the improved finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC). It investigates the transient performance of both converters and the alleviation of the circulating power in case of different output impedances. In order to ensure proper load sharing, a suitable coordination is applied and utilizing droop control. Simulation and experimental results validate the better performance of the proposed improved FCS-MPC and its appropriate droop characteristics to enable proper parallel operation.
