In this paper, a new coordinated control structure is presented to improve the microgrid transients and steady state performance. In particular, a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) structure is deployed to compensate for voltage deviations rapidly and a linear controller smoothly supports the load during steady state. Compared to the state of the art methods, the proposed approach regulates the output voltage of voltage source converters (VSCs) with much higher bandwidth but also low harmonic distortion. This approach overcomes the main deficiency of cascaded linear control structure as well as MPC based control methods. Simulation results verified accurate and super fast power sharing during transients and steady state.
