Back Cover: Inspired by the structure of firefly luciferin, new dyes are synthesized. These compounds have tunable optical properties, high absorption coefficients, and high quantum yields. They are successfully functionalized with methacrylate units and copolymerized with methyl methacrylate. The chromophores are unaltered by polymerization and show no tendency for self-quenching.
