Both the neutral methanide Au(III) complex (III) and the free methanide SPPh 2 CHPPh 2 Me react with the Au(I) complexes (IV), (VI), and (IX) or the Ag(I) complex (X) to afford binuclear complexes of the type (V) (space group P2 1 /c, Z=4) and (VII), or (XI).
