We report the fabrication of an anode material for lithium ion microbatteries by electrochemically anodizing a fully dense Ti3SiC2 in aqueous electrolyte containing hydrofluoric acid. A nanolayered and mesoporous oxide structures were produced by anodizing the Ti3SiC2 at a potential of 10 V and 60 V, respectively. The power density delivered by the nanolayered structure obtained at 10 V is almost 3 times higher than that obtained from a mesoporous material formed at 60 V.
