Abstract Uric acid is mainly produced from metabolism of purine nucleotide in human body and have several medical importance in human system. It is therefore very imperative to develop a sensitive and accurate method of its detection. This study aimed to develop uric acid biosensor based on polydopamine/polypyrole (PDA/PPY) composite decorated on glassy carbon electrode. The conductive polymer PDA/PPY was electrochemically synthesized and casted on glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The synthesized PDA/PPY was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, energy dispersive x‐ray spectroscopy and x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. PDA/PPY/GCE showed good response towards uric acid with low limit of detection (0.1 μM, S/N =3), good linearity (0.5‐40 μM) and high sensitivity (2.1 μAμMcm −2 ). It was also found to have stable response for uric acid unaffected by common interferents. Also, when used for uric acid detection in human serum and urine, it showed a good recovery of 90–110%. The developed PDA/PPY composite is proposed as a promising biosensor for uric acid for human health protection.

The azomethine double bond in the title Schiff base, C(20)H(19)N(3)O, has an E configuration. The 13-membered carbazolyl fused ring system [r.m.s. deviation = 0.023 (9) Å] is nearly coplanar with the five-membered pyrazole ring [r.m.s. deviation = 0.003 (4) Å]; the dihedral angle between the two systems is 10.8 (2)°. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin having a 35% minor component.
Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)), or lupus, is an autoimmune disease in which a person's immune system attacks various organs or cells of the body, causing damage and dysfunction. It is one of the worldwide autoimmune disorder that has a significant mortality and morbidity. Objective: The current study aims to assess knowledge regarding SLE among the general population in Abha city, Aseer region, KSA. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study was used. Sample: A total of 405 individuals were selected using a simple sampling technique. Selected participant was interviewed using a questionnaire which consisted of many parts dealing with all aspects of SLE (risk factors, diagnosis, management, and prognosis). Data were entered and analyzed by using SPSS. Relevant statistical tests were used according and considered significant if values were less than 5% Results: A total of 405 individuals were involved in this study. Age ranged between 18-55 years, 58% were females. More than one third ( 39.3%) had good knowledge of SLE particularly general and treatment aspects (54%,42%) respectively. The higher knowledge level about SLE was Found among younger participants (below 35 years) than among older (46.9% vs. 30.3%) with statistical significance (P<0.05) which is clearly showed in our results Conclusion and recommendations: This study revealed that the knowledge about SLE among participants was inadequate particularly among less educated, there are so many misconceptions about essential information of these serious diseases which need public health education using different methods including new social media. The comprehensive national study is suggested to explore the knowledge about SLE

Abstract The interaction of cationic gemini and cationic conventional surfactants by conductivity was systematically overviewed, paying attention to synergism observed in micellization. These mixed systems were found to show remarkable synergism in micelle formation. The experimental critical micelle concentration values being lower than the value predicted by ideal solution theory indicate that the mixed micellization is due to attractive interaction between the two components. Gemini/conventional systems form mixed micelle due to attractive interactions (negative β values). The values of micellar mole fraction of constituent 1 ( X 1 ) in surfactant mixtures are more than in the ideal state ( X 1 ideal ), which means that, the mixed micelles are rich in conventional surfactants in comparison to that in the ideal state.
