An entry from the Cambridge Structural Database, the world’s repository for small molecule crystal structures. The entry contains experimental data from a crystal diffraction study. The deposited dataset for this entry is freely available from the CCDC and typically includes 3D coordinates, cell parameters, space group, experimental conditions and quality measures.

In the title compound, C(18)H(16)O(3), the mean plane of the nine-membered indane system makes a dihedral angle of 3.71 (17)° with the benzene ring of the dimethoxy-phenyl group. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen contacts. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions, which link neighbouring mol-ecules into one-dimensional extended chains along the [100] direction. In the structure, C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed.
