Background Palmar-divergent dislocation of the lunate and scaphoid is a rare high-energy trauma with complex injured mechanism. Early diagnosis and surgery are necessary, however, there is no consensus on surgical treatment, as only a few literatures have been reported. Case summary A 56-year-old man, following a powerful strike to the dorsal side of left wrist and forearm, complained about swelling, tenderness, and limited motion of the left wrist during the physical examination. According to physical and imaging results, this patient was diagnosed with trans-styloid palmar-divergent dislocation of the lunate and scaphoid, as well as radial diaphysis fracture. We performed open reduction, internal fixation with K-wires, ligament reconstruction, and cast immobilization for 6 weeks, followed by early rehabilitation. Conclusion We firstly described a novel injury mechanism of trans-styloid palmar-divergent dislocation of the lunate and scaphoid based on the classical Mayfield's mechanism, and reviewed suggestions regarding the optimal treatment of palmar-divergent dislocation of the lunate and scaphoid.
Increasing integration densities and high operating speeds are leading to subtle manifestations of defects at the board level. Board-level functional test is therefore necessary for product qualification. The diagnosis of functional failures is especially challenging, and the cost associated with board-level diagnosis is escalating rapidly. An effective and cost-efficient board-level diagnosis strategy is needed to reduce manufacturing cost and time-to-market, as well as to improve product quality. In this paper, we use Bayesian inference to develop a new board-level diagnosis framework that allows us to identify faulty devices or faulty modules within a device on a failing board with high confidence. Bayesian inference offers a powerful probabilistic method for pattern analysis, classification, and decision making under uncertainty. We apply this inference technique by first generating a database of fault syndromes obtained using fault-insertion test at the module pin level on a fault-free board, and then use this database along with the observed erroneous behavior of a failing board to infer the most likely faulty device. Results on a case study using an open-source RISC system-on-chip highlight the effectiveness of the proposed framework in terms of fault-localization accuracy and correctness of diagnosis.

To investigate the synergistic interaction between the deltoid muscle and the rotator cuff muscle group in patients with rotator cuff tears (RCT), as well as the impact of the critical shoulder angle (CSA) on deltoid muscle strength.A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from 42 RCT patients who met the selection criteria and were treated between March 2022 and March 2023. There were 13 males and 29 females, with an age range of 42-77 years (mean, 60.5 years). Preoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) score was 6.0±1.6. CSA measurements were obtained from standard anteroposterior X-ray films before operation, and patients were divided into two groups based on CSA measurements: CSA>35° group (group A) and CSA≤35° group (group B). Handheld dynamometry was used to measure the muscle strength of various muscle group in the shoulder (including the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and anterior, middle, and posterior bundles of the deltoid). The muscle strength of the unaffected side was compared to the affected side, and muscle imbalance indices were calculated. Muscle imbalance indices between male and female patients, dominant and non-dominant sides, and groups A and B were compared. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between muscle imbalance indices and CSA as well as VAS scores.Muscle strength in all muscle groups on the affected side was significantly lower than on the unaffected side ( P<0.05). The muscle imbalance indices for the supraspinatus, subscapularis, infraspinatus, and anterior, middle, and posterior bundles of the deltoid were 14.8%±24.4%, 5.9%±9.7%, 7.2% (0, 9.1%), 17.2% (5.9%, 26.9%), 8.3%±21.3%, and 10.2% (2.8%, 15.4%), respectively. The muscle imbalance indices of the anterior bundle of the deltoid, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus were significantly lower in male patients compared to female patients ( P<0.05); however, there was no significant difference in muscle imbalance indices among other muscle groups between male and female patients or between the dominant and non-dominant sides ( P>0.05). There was a positive correlation between the muscle imbalance indices of infraspinatus and VAS score ( P<0.05), and a positive correlation between CSA and the muscle imbalance indices of middle bundle of deltoid ( P<0.05). There was no correlation between the muscle imbalance indices of other muscle groups and VAS score or CSA ( P>0.05). Preoperative CSA ranged from 17.6° to 39.4°, with a mean of 31.1°. There were 9 cases in group A and 33 cases in group B. The muscle imbalance indices of the anterior bundle of the deltoid was significantly lower in group A compared to group B ( P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in muscle imbalance indices among other muscle groups between group A and group B ( P>0.05).Patients with RCT have a phenomenon of deltoid muscle strength reduction, which is more pronounced in the population with a larger CSA. .
Semiconducting and piezoelectric zinc oxide has two important structure characteristics: the multiple and switchable growth directions: ⟨011¯0⟩, ⟨21¯1¯0⟩, and ⟨0001⟩; and the {0001} polar surfaces. The fast growth directions create nanobelts of different crystallographic facets, and the polar surfaces result in bending of the nanobelt for minimizing the spontaneous polarization energy. A combination of these distinct growth characteristics results in a group of unique nanostructures, including several types of nanorings, nanobows, platelet circular structures, Y-shape split ribbons, and crossed ribbons. We present here the as-grown nanoarchitectures naturally created by combining some of the fundamental structure configurations of ZnO, which could be unique for many applications in nanotechnology.
Abstract Diffuse scattering, being highly intensive and confined in reciprocal space to a regular geometric surface exhibiting the translation symmetry of the bcc reciprocal lattice, is observed by electron diffraction from partially stabilized zirconia with Y2 O3 and MgO. This material is a structural ceramic having potential applications at high temperatures (> 1000°C). A three-dimensional geometric model of the diffuse scattering distributed in reciprocal space is constructed and an analytical equation corresponding to this model is established. In the reciprocal-space unit cell, the diffuse scattering distributes on the surfaces of eight rotational ellipsoids whose rotational axes are along the (111) directions of the bcc reciprocal lattice. Possible sources regarding the formation of the diffuse scattering are discussed. It is concluded that local ordering of oxygen vacancies in the cubic phase matrix, corresponding possibly to a transition state changing from the disordered cubic fluorite structure to an ordered superstructure, is the dominant factor that is responsible for the observed characteristic diffuse scattering.
