
Fatih Işık is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Gümüşhane University, Türkiye. He received his B.Sc. (2014), M.Sc. (2017), and Ph.D. (2022) degrees in Geography from Ondokuz Mayıs University. His doctoral research focused on dendroclimatological investigations based on tree-ring analyses in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Türkiye. His research mainly focuses on dendrochronology, dendroclimatology, climate–growth relationships, and environmental change. He integrates tree-ring data with climate datasets, remote sensing products, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to investigate the responses of forest ecosystems to climate variability and extreme climate events. In addition to dendrochronological studies, his research interests include biogeography, geomorphology, natural hazards, and spatial analysis. He joined the Department of Geography at Gümüşhane University as an Assistant Professor in 2022 after serving as a research assistant in the same department. Throughout his academic career, he has participated in several national research projects and published articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Between 2022 and 2025, he served as the Head of the Department of Geography at Gümüşhane University. He has also held several administrative roles, including Head of the GIS Division, Vice Head of Department, Faculty Executive Board Member, and member of the University Quality Commission.
