
Dr. Benjamin is Jay & Louise Coffman Professor in Vascular Medicine and Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Boston University. At Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine she is inaugural ad interim Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Vice Chair for Faculty Development & Diversity in the Department of Medicine. She leads the 7 Medical Campus faculty development and leadership programs, including for early and mid-career faculty. At the Framingham Heart Study, she serves as a Member of the Ancillary Proposal Review Committee. Dr. Benjamin has conducted research at the Framingham Study since 1988 on genetics, epidemiology, and prognosis of atrial fibrillation (AF), vascular function, systemic inflammation, pain, and echocardiography. She is a Boston Medical Center cardiologist. She has volunteered for the American Heart Association (AHA) since 1992, serving on a variety of local & national Committees. Continuously NIH funded since 1998 on grants related to AF, vascular function, inflammation, mobile health, and chronic pain with an H-index >215 and >900 publications. An Association of American Physicians Member, she has won national awards for research, education, mentoring, and diversity, and an Honorary Doctorate in Medial Medical Science from Aalborg University, Denmark.
