Abstract
1 min readThis article has two parts. The first provides an overview of variational transition state theory with multidimensional semiclassical ground-state transmission coefficients. The second provides an update of recent applications to three secondary deuterium kinetic isotope effects in gas-phase C1 reactions, in particular. H + CD3H → H2 + CD3 *Cl- + CD3*Cl- and *Cl(D2O)- + CH3Cl → CH3*Cl + Cl(D2O)- where *Cl denotes a labeled chlorine atom.
