Discharge of industrial wastewater containing various pollutants including heavy metals is a major issue in developing countries. The wastewater with high concentration of metals could cause damage to plants, animals and humans on earth. Keeping in view of these challenges, this book chapter was designed to cure the treatment of wastewater through photocatalytic methods. In this chapter, the various sources of water pollution have been studied. Further, the existence of various metals such as chromium, cadmium, mercury, nickel, copper has been reviewed. Further, the health effect of these metals on human beings was also explored. Moreover, the advantage and mechanism of the photocatalytic process was reviewed with other available methods for the treatment of wastewater.
