Four novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active luminogens (<italic>p</italic>-DPDECZ, <italic>p</italic>-DBPDECZ, <italic>m</italic>-DPDECZ and <italic>m</italic>-DBPDECZ) with triphenylethene-carbazole skeleton and <italic>para</italic>-/<italic>meta</italic>-substituted arylboron groups have been synthesized.
