This paper is a contribution to the phenomenological description of the secondary electron emission mechanism. A simple model is presented in which the secondary electron emission coefficient of different materials is calculated as a function of the energy and angle of incidence of the primary electrons. The energy interval for which the model is valid ranges from 0 to about 1000 eV, while incidence is varied from normal to grazing angle. The model provides a simple calculation method to take into account the important differences between various materials.
