Abstract

Magnetron sputtered ZrO2/W multilayer samples with each layer thickness of 5 nm and 50 nm are irradiated by 70 keV He+ ions at fluences from 8×1016 to 6×1017 m-2 at room temperature. The surface morphology and microstru- ctural evolution are studied with scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The experimental results suggest that the radiation tolerance of the nano-multilayers consisting of same compounds can be different because of different interfacial structure and grain boundary.
