Synthesis and Properties of Optically Active Polymenthoxyalkynes: I. Synthesis and Characterization

Polyacetylene is a prototypical conducting polymer and substituted polyacetylene have also attracted much interest. Introduction of pendant groups to the polyacetylene backbone has led to discoveries of new phenomena and to the development of new materials possessing unique properties. A group of chiral menthoxyalkynes is synthesized. Polymerizations of the acetylene monomers produced optically active polymenthoxyalkynes.
