Winker and this organization also make an important point about the gray zone that new and emerging legitimate journals can fall into and thus erroneously become blacklisted. We make this very point in our essay.Whatever the appropriate definition attributed to predatory journals—which, like many other definitions, will be imperfect (1, 2)—we believe that our central point remains.
