The development of accurate impact dynamics models in rotating machinery with spline couplings is a challenging problem that demands special attention. The dynamic behavior of the system is highly dependent on the spline coupling stiffness, which is nonlinear under different loads. To address this challenge, rotor dynamics models that incorporate spline couplings have been developed. In this paper, firstly, the mechanical model of spline coupling considering large deformation under different loads is established and verified by finite element software. Furthermore, a spline rotor dynamics model considering nonlinear stiffness is established, and the influence of different impact loads on the vibration response of the system is emphatically analyzed. Finally, the proposed model is experimentally verified to accurately predict the impact dynamics of the rotor system, which provides a certain theoretical reference for the impact resistance design of the spline rotor system.
