SAT-148 Determinants of outcomes in pediatric chronic kidney disease [CKD] in a low resource setting

Being a referral center for pediatric chronic kidney disease [CKD] care in India for last 3 decades, we are able to provide renal replacement therapies to only 20-30% of children in end stage renal disease [ESRD]. We have observed that families often ‘disappear’ from our centre, meaning that they do not return for treatment and cannot be contacted. Such situations are presumed to result in the child’s death, as there are very few centres in the region that provide CKD care to children. We studied the sociodemographic profile of children presenting with CKD at our centre with a particular focus on rates and cost of hospital admissions and determined factors associated with continuation or discontinuation of treatment.
