This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To evaluate the effects of risperidone compared to treatment with other antipsychotics (first‐generation and other second‐generation antipsychotics) used in people with severe mental illness and co‐occurring substance misuse.
