Reliability Evaluation of a Modified Y-source Inverter in Photo-voltaic Application

Impedance source inverters have many advantages compared with the traditional voltage-source inverters (VSIs) and current-source inverters (CSIs). Among them, the Y-source inverter (YSI) is the most typical topology which can obtain various voltage gains. However, the YSI still inherits many problems from impedance-source network. In this paper, a modified Y-source inverter (M-YSI) is proposed to address the discontinuous input current and increase boost ratio. With the proposed topology, the reliability of the power devices is enhanced. The reliability of the inverter is evaluated under a real mission profile in photovoltaic application.
