On July 26, 2004, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the largest publicly funded granting agency in Canada, announced that all new CIHR-funded randomized controlled trials (RCTs) must be registered with an International Standard Randomised Controlled Trial Number (ISRCTN).[1][1]
