Nicht immer gleich: Wenn sich eine Gold-Nanokäfige enthaltende Mutterzelle teilt, werden die Nanopartikel nicht gleichmäßig auf die beiden Tochterzellen verteilt. Diese ungleichmäßige Verteilung der Nanopartikel sowie deren Ausscheidung aus den Zellen (siehe Bild) wurden sowohl in vitro als auch in vivo quantitativ mithilfe von Zweiphotonenmikroskopie bzw. photoakustischer Mikroskopie analysiert.
