A lanthanum mixed dicarboxylate of the formula [La2(C2O4)2(C6H8O4)(H2O)2] containing metal oxalate layers connected by adipate and oxalate units has been synthesized hydrothermally. Hexagonal channels occur along the c-axis of this material. It has been possible to isolate another mixed dicarboxylate of the formula [La2(C2O4)(C4H4O4)2(H2O)4]⋅4H2O containing metal succinate layers connected by oxalate units.
