Based on the Estimate-and-Forward (EF) relaying scheme with the Bayesian estimator proposed in our previous work, we investigate the impact of the approximation of the residual noise in this paper. A more precise model is proposed to characterize the residual noise on the symbol estimate, using a pre-calculated lookup table at the destination. Compared to the previously utilized Gaussian noise approximation, the new model introduces additional complexity, but requires less signaling overhead transmitted from the relay to the destination. In the simulations, it shows better performance, compared to the other relaying schemes.
