In order to deeply understand the mechanism of metal foaming process through gas injection,numerical simulations of the flow processes of gas injecting into metal melt were conducted by using the Eulerian-Eulerian two-fluid approach.A two-phase version of the k-e turbulence model was used for the liquid and gas(bubbles) respectively.An important consideration was the change in the drag coefficient of bubbles due to bubble trailing vortices.Comparisons with experimental data show that the present model has better performance than previous one which did not take account of the effect of gas phase turbulence.The effects of bubble diameters and system parameters on the flow behaviour and gas holdup were analyzed.Results show that the bubble distribution becomes more uniform with decreasing liquid density and bubble size.
