Numerical simulation and design of steel equal-leg angle section beams

Comparisons with experimental and numerical results have demonstrated that existing design provisions are generally conservative in predicting the ultimate resistance of steel angles subjected to major-axis bending and often unsafe for minor-axis bending. The aim of the present paper is to develop a new approach to the design of angle section beams, suitable for incorporation into Eurocode 3 (EC3).
