Kontrastreich: Ein neuer Typ von Kontrastmittel, 1-(4,5-Dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-3,5-diphenylformazan (MTT-Formazan), dient zur zerstörungsfreien und ungiftigen Bildgebung an lebenden Zellen mit photoakustischer Mikroskopie (siehe Bild). Der Mechanismus der Kontrastgebung ist universell und kann auf alle stoffwechselaktiven Zellen, einschließlich Stamm- und Tumorzellen, angewendet werden.
