Nb3VS6 Nanosheets: A Ternary Metal Sulfide that Achieves Outstanding Ampere‐Level Current Density for Alkaline Electrochemical HER Activity — Chithaiah Pallellappa (2025) | RDL Network
The electrochemical generation of green hydrogen as an alternative energy source requires higher energy inputs and suffers from low current output using non‐noble metal‐based catalysts. In this article, Nb3VS6 nanosheets have been utilized as catalysts to investigate the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in an alkaline medium. Nb3VS6 nanosheets demonstrated considerable effectiveness as catalysts and strong activity, showing ampere‐level current densities and stability in the working potential range towards the electrochemical production of hydrogen. Nb3VS6 nanosheets exhibit a high current density of 1.5 A cm‐2 towards HER at an overpotential of 650 mV. Furthermore, its bifunctionality achieved an impressive current density of 1.8 A cm‐2 at a potential of 2.9 V in a full‐cell configuration.
