Network motifs are commonly considered the building blocks of networks. Compared to metrics based on node degree distribution, which address global network topology which can be similar for some networks with different local structures, the analysis of motifs has been found to be an efficient tool for comprehending local network structure and assessing system reliability. Additionally, the rapid increase in the capabilities of monitoring, coordinating, and controlling power toward smart grids has heightened the interdependency between the physical and cyber parts of cyber-physical power systems (CPPSs). However, traditional reliability studies on power systems do not consider the effects of the cyber layer of the power system. In this paper, a reliability study of CPPSs is presented, considering both domains and the effects of each one on power delivery. This study is based on motif dynamics under different types of threats and was implemented on a 33-node CPPS.
