The process of aqueous suspension was used in modification of trans-1,4-polyisoprene through chlorination at ambient pressure. The effects of temperature, time, particle size on the chlorine content of CTPI were investigated. The suitable reaction conditions were as follows. The two-step method of raising temperature was used and chlorine flow rate was controlled quantificationally. In the first phase, reaction temperature:35?℃,reaction time:2~3 h;in the second phase, reaction temperature: 50~55?℃,reaction time: 1~6 h,CTPI with an chlorine content under 50% could be obtained. The output are white loose soluble particles.
