A modal anzdysis of a prestressed “rthogonzd network consisting of dissimilz fihres is presented. The method is ge”eraJ enough to include a vxiety of stnxturaJ nonhomogeneities, In particular, consideration is given to square nehvorks strengthened by narrow hands of stiff fibres, representing a net with discontinuous material properties. The effect of varying prestress of the fihres on the free vibration response is also studied. The analysis is vet&d hy comparison with analytical solutions for certain limiting caes.
