Among AF patients with CHA<sub>2</sub>DS<sub>2</sub>-VASc scores of 0 and 1 with no anticoagulation, MetS is associated with an increased risk of ischaemic stroke. Given the linear incremental association between metabolic burden and ischaemic stroke, the integrated management of metabolic derangements in AF is required.
