Abstract

Essentially, light within a certain range of wavelengths (optical window) and at power levels that do not produce any heating is able to stimulate effectively the principal tissue chromophores, such as cytochrome c oxidase (possessing high absorption bands at the red and near-infrared wavelength range), and thus penetrate deeply, bringing about a myriad of cellular events.
