The design phase of the circuit plays a crucial role in the development of the system. The design phase considering only the functional perspective of the system are prone to field failures, increase in maintenance costs, increase in maintenance time due to lack of availability and decrease in life span of the system. These shortcomings are addressed by incorporating reliability, risk and safety analysis during the design phase. This paper brings out the analysis performed during the preliminary design phase of the space transmitter control circuit. The role of control circuit is indispensable for the successful operation of the space transmitter. This necessitated the designer to incorporate Design for Reliability (DfR) process to achieve the reliability goal, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for identification of critical components and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) for the identification of potential hazards and its influence on the system which assured the reliability & safety requirements are being met during the design phase of the system.
