Integrated Remote Sensing and Visualization (IRSV) System for Transportation Infrastructure Operations and Management, Phase One, Volume 6, High Resolution Aerial Photography
Abstract
1 min readThis volume introduces the small format aerial photography imaging as an important remote sensing tool in the overall Integrated Remote Sensing and Visualization (IRSV) bridge monitoring system. The processes involved in the SI-SFAP (Spatial Integrated – Small Format Aerial Photography) technique initiate from the actual aerial image capture to image processing to rating processing. Each step is shown to have crucial importance in order to accurately and effectively use this tool as a bridge monitoring system. A new bridge rating algorithm using deck surface condition rating is recommended. Resembling current pavement inspection process, the rating technique allows possible standardization and integration into existing bridge inspection and management process. Data found within this document include the surface rating, obstruction detection, as well as expansion joint measurements. All of the important information within is related to determine possible bridge stresses due to bridge movements. Discussions about further temporal data are also included.
