A kinetic study of the transalkylation of m-xylene has been carried out on zeolites Y dealuminated at different levels and by two different procedures. For each sample the true kinetic rate constant, activation energy, adsorption constant, and entropy and enthalpy of adsorption have been obtained. These parameters, together with surface acidity characterization, have been used to discuss the reaction mechanism and the relative influence of different zeolite parameters on the reaction.
