To evaluate drought resistance ability of Elymus,6 species of Elymus were collected and treated under continuous drought.The drought resistance was evaluated by leaf morphological characteristics and the subordinate function of the cell membrane permeability,the content of malondialdehyde(MDA),soluble sugar,proline and chlorophyll at 0,5 and 10days.The results showed that with the increasing of drought stress,the chlorophyll content decreased,but the cell membrane permeability,and the content of free proline,soluble sugar and MDA increased,The increasing of soluble sugar and MDA content was significance(P0.05).By comprehensive evaluation,the sequence of drought resistance ability of tbe six species was as follow: E04(from Mangla township in guinan county)E03(from Gumang township in Tongde county)E02(from Quanji township in Gangcha county)E01(from Jimai township in Dari county)E05(from Xinyuan township in Tianjun county)E06(from Daotanghe township in Gonghe county).
