Summary form only given. Measurements of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) were performed with an interferometric technique at the wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm. The PMD results for the endlessly single-mode photonic crystal fibre (PCF) for a wavelength of 1550 nm are given. An optical frequency domain reflectometer (OFDR) has been employed to obtain information on the homogeneity of the fibers. The local birefringence was determined by exploiting the inherent polarization sensitivity in the OFDR.
