volume 13 issue 3 Associations between emotional and behavioral disorders and weight status have been reported in adults and children. Depression and anxiety are the most frequently reported manifestations among obese individuals. In the other direction, weight change is a common characteristic of emotional/behavioral disorders. Though the direction of causality between emotional-behavioral symptoms and obesity is not always clear, both behavioral and biologic pathways are believed to mediate these relations.
