Today's environmental challenge is forcing new approaches for climate and energy policies. Based 23 on the Paris Agreement, most countries have fixed a set of new targets, such as reducing greenhouse 24 gas emissions, increasing the energy efficiency or the share of renewable energy in the total gross 25 final energy consumption. 26The industrial and transport (terrestrial, maritime and air) sectors are called to be relevant sectors to 27 fulfil the climate objectives. The necessary transformation of these sectors requires a green revolution 28 of a transversal nature, from the generation to the final consumption of their demanded energy, which 29 has to involve different technologies and energy policy approaches. In this regard, the proposed 30 research topic has focused its attention on the current initiatives applied in the maritime and road 31 transport sector in China and Europe, as well as the methodologies to assess and forecast the 32 evolution of these policies and to identify the hot spots of carbon emissions. 33 This is a provisional file, not the final typeset article
