The metallacycle [Br 3 WS 2 N 3 ] has been obtained from the reaction of S 4 N 4 with WBr 5 . The salt [Ph 4 P + ][Br 4 WS 2 N 3 - ] was formed from [Br 3 WS 2 N 3 ] by addition of Ph 4 PBr. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with a = 1396.8(4), b = 1961.9(5), c = 2108.0(4) pm, and Z = 8. The following mean bond lengths were observed in the anion: W-N 184.2, W-Br 256.8, N-S 157.8 pm.
