This chapter describes Darkroom, a domain-specific language for image processing [Hegarty et al., 2014] built around line-buffered pipelines. By restricting the programming model, the compiler is able to rapidly schedule the code for hardware or software, producing efficient implementations for CPU, FPGA, and ASIC.
